Product identification report is an official document issued by an accredited conformity assessment body. It establishes whether a product requires mandatory certification or declaration, or is exempt from mandatory conformity assessment.
During identification, the body reviews technical and accompanying documents, product characteristics, intended use, the EAEU HS code and other information needed to determine the product’s status unambiguously.
When an identification report is needed
- During customs clearance, when a certificate is requested for goods not covered by technical regulations.
- For marketplaces and retail chains that require confirmation that certification is not needed.
- During regulatory inspections.
- Before launching a new product or ordering a batch, to establish which documents will be required.
Required information
- Product name, description and intended use.
- The EAEU HS code, if known.
- Photos, passport, instructions, technical description or specification.
- Applicant details.
How to obtain the document
- You send the product description and documents.
- A specialist identifies the product and reports the result.
- We issue the product identification report.
If identification shows that mandatory conformity assessment is required, we explain which document is needed — a certificate or a declaration — and which scheme applies. Learn more in Mandatory conformity assessment.
Identification report or exemption letter
An exemption letter commonly refers to any document stating that a product does not require certification. An identification report from an accredited body explains the grounds for that conclusion, giving customs, buyers and supervisory authorities greater confidence in it.
