Voluntary certification
Voluntary certification

Voluntary certification is initiated by the applicant for products not subject to mandatory certification or declaration, or to demonstrate compliance beyond mandatory requirements. The conformity assessment body then issues a voluntary conformity certificate.

Why obtain a voluntary certificate

  • Tenders and public procurement. Customers often require documentary evidence of quality and compliance with standards.
  • Retail chains and marketplaces. Many platforms request a conformity document even for products that do not require mandatory certification.
  • Customer and partner confidence. A certificate confirms that an independent body has assessed the product.
  • Compliance with a specific standard. For example, ST RK, GOST or the manufacturer’s technical specifications.

How it differs from mandatory conformity assessment

Mandatory conformity assessment is a condition for placing a product on the market; without it, the product cannot be sold. A voluntary certificate does not grant this right and does not replace a mandatory certificate or declaration. If the product requires mandatory conformity assessment, the mandatory document must be obtained first.

Unsure whether your product needs a mandatory document? This can be determined through a product identification report is issued,.

How to obtain the document

  1. You send a product description and specify the requirements to be certified against.
  2. We determine the standards and assessment programme.
  3. We test samples in an accredited testing laboratory.
  4. We issue a voluntary conformity certificate.
